Baptist Charity Rescue Team Returns From Nepal With Hungarian Baby

The Baptist Charity’s five-member rescue team returned from earthquake-hit Nepal on Monday, after helping victims there for several days. Team leader László Pavelcze said after arriving at Liszt Ferenc International Airport that they had taken 18,000 euros worth of aid to Nepal where they were assisting the medical staff and providing health services to 300 people.

Four Hungarians were injured in Saturday’s earthquake in Nepal and are receiving treatment at a church-run hospital, Foreign Affairs Minister Péter Szijjártó told reporters in Budapest on Tuesday. Another two of the 44 Hungarians known to be in Nepal on Saturday have not been contacted directly. Eighteen Hungarians have left Nepal since the disaster.

The foreign ministry has provided a temporary passport for Előd Tóásó, a Hungarian national released from a Bolivian prison in February, to enable him to return home. The court ordered the liquidation of the company in 2005 after it failed to pay a $6,000 invoice.

The group of 26 Hungarians flown out of Yemen on Sunday have arrived in Khartoum, where they were received by embassy officials and are in good health. They include a woman seven months pregnant, and children.
