Craig is an adventurous thrill-seeker, which includes hobbies such as motocross and jetski. He’s also certified for scuba rescue diving, sailplane gliding aircraft, and has skipper’s licenses for sailing and motor vessels, on both inland and coastal waters.

His most recent venture Monty River Cruises is a growing startup, aiming to share the beauty of the Danube river with local and foreigner travelers.

1. When did you arrive in Hungary and what brought you here?

1993 May, youthful curiosity and travel adventures.

2. Have you ever been an expatriate elsewhere?

Nope, only in Hungary.

3. What surprised you most about Hungary?

How hot their blood is (western education told us the “eastern block” was a cold place, totally incorrect!).

4. Friends are in Budapest for the weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?

See central BP from the water, by night, take a city trip on Monty River Cruises! ;)

Paprikás csirke, yummy!! 

6. What is never missing from your refrigerator?

Milk, eggs, and chilled white wine :)

8. What do you miss most from home?

Home itself, I’m actually a great patriot of my amazing country, South Africa (hence not a big fan of the term “ex-patriot”).

9. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?

Jet fighter pilot, but that (childhood) dream is fading :)

The list is long, but definitely not a “hands-on waste management technician”! :)

11. Where did you spend your last vacation?

Italy, south Puglia region, viva Italia!

12. Where do you hope to spend your next holiday?

Philippines, Jamaica, or Mexico, not been to those yet.

Again, long list, but chocolate is definitely my nemesis :)

U2, Die Hard, Motocross racing.

Depends on time of day, but mainly white.

Environmental protection, I’m a huge fan of our beautiful, one-and-only inhabitable planet!

Depends on time of day, sleep in Buda, play in Pest.
