When I was a child, one of my favorite passtimes was to climb a tree and silently enjoy the peace of this protected setting. Later I became more social, managing student associations and a university club, organizing parties, trips and other events that bring people together.

Budapest’s Szabadság (Freedom) square hosted a novel demonstration of sorts Saturday evening. Starting at 5:30 pm and lasting until 10 pm, the “We will not remain silent!” protest featured musical performances by a variety of musicians and DJs, as well as speeches by notable artists and activists. As many as 10,000 people mostly in their twenties and thirties attended.

A pro-government pundit dismisses liberal interpretations which celebrate ‘Sing’ as a film depicting current Hungary as the scribblings of arrogant manipulators. His independent counterpart admits the merits of the new film sponsoring system introduced by the current government.

On 06 January 2016 we commemorated the 250th anniversary of the birth of Hungarian poet and botanist Mihály Fazekas. This was one of the reasons we decided on adapting his deservedly most famous and still extremely popular epic poem: Mattie the goose-boy, an original Hungarian tale in 4 acts.

They are bringing to Budapest’s Művész Cinema the best of new films from German-speaking lands, including a number of prize winners.
Human Rights Watch: Hungary: Failing To Protect Vulnerable Refugees

Hungary is keeping many of the most vulnerable asylum seekers stranded on its border in poor conditions for weeks while they wait to enter the country and file their claims, Human Rights Watch said today. Some said that border officials had used excessive force against them.
