The radical nationalist Jobbik party on Tuesday called on the government to cancel measures introduced to control soccer fans. Deputy leader István Apáti said the legal rules in question have caused a drop in the number of spectators, lower ticket sales, fewer sponsors and decreased revenues from television broadcasts, which means clubs losing income in the range of 100 million forints.

Hungarian polymath Otto Herman is to be honoured with a video animation commemorating his life, projected onto the slopes of Gellért Hill on the Night of Museums this Saturday, as a part of Otto Herman Memorial Year. The video, presenting Herman’s works in the fields of science, ethnography, linguistics and archaeology is scheduled to begin at 9.30pm, and will play on a loop until 2am.

Budapest will host this year’s European Figure Skating Championships from Jan. 15 to 19, the organisers told a news conference on Thursday. The field will feature top skaters from 35 countries. The competitions will be covered by television stations from 13 nations and 200 journalists, mostly from Russia and Hungary.

He also studied in the United States. In addition to his church activities he worked for Duna TV. Since 2010 he has been the vice chairman of the Lutheran World Federation.
