Hungary’s ailing hospitals amassed a total debt of 68.2 billion forints (EUR 220m) by the end of June, daily Népszava reported, adding that the amount was increasing by 3-4 billion forints each month. Out of the 68.2 billion forints total, hospitals owed 51.8 billion to suppliers, the report said.

Bachar Najari, the majority owner Hungarian porcelain maker Zsolnay, on Wednesday repaid all of its debts owed to West Hungaria Bau, and asked the Zalaegerszeg court yesterday to immediately terminate a liquidation procedure against the company and to end the custodial oversight of Zsolnay, the company said in a statement.

Lawmakers approved amendments to the 2016 budget act raising both revenue and expenditures by 421.7 billion forints (EUR 1.4bn). The amendments were passed with 121 votes in favour and 63 against.
