Hungary’s national football team has qualified for the European Football Championships for the first time in 44 years after defeating Norway 2-1 in the return leg of their play-off at the Groupama Stadium in Budapest Sunday evening. Hungary won by a 3-1 aggregate score, having defeated Norway 1-0 in Oslo on Thursday night.

German airline company Lufthansa cancelled all of its Wednesday flights between Budapest and Frankfurt as well as several of its Munich flights because of a strike by cabin crew. The departure and arrival information system of Liszt Ferenc International Airport showed all of Lufthansa’s Budapest flights had been cancelled on Wednesday, with the exception of its morning and evening Munich flights.

The “three strikes” regulation against violent repeat offenders introduced five years ago has achieved its primary goal, Justice Ministry state secretary Róbert Répássy told a press briefing on Monday. He said that in the past five years courts have convicted 473 repeat offenders, more than half of whom are now serving prison sentences.
