An estimated 350,000 people left Hungary to live abroad between 2009 and 2013, according to a Central Statistical Office study. The data collected at the start of 2013 shows that 80% of the migrants were under 40 years old. Around 30% of them were university graduates, which is well above the Hungarian average of 18%.

A memorial wall recalling Budapest’s wartime Jewish ghetto was dedicated in the Seventh District on Thursday, with an interactive map showing the history of the quarter. The project was funded by the United Hungarian Jewish Religious Community (EMIH) and the district council.

State secretary of foreign affairs and trade László Szabó said that when Hungary was forced to cut diplomatic relations with Israel, the move caused much damage to cooperation between the two nations and to economic links.
