Spending on film production in Hungary as a percentage of economic output is by far the highest in Europe. Hungary provided the production base for 250 movies and television films in 2010-2014, the media authority (NMHH) reported, commenting on European Audiovisual Observatory data. Productions averaged 46 billion forints (EUR 151m) each year over the period.

US audio equipment maker Harman, which supplies audio systems to carmakers such as Audi, BMW, Daimler, Porsche and Land Rover, is undertaking a 3.5 billion forint (EUR 11.4m) expansion in Pécs, in southwest Hungary. The investment will create 420 jobs, raising Harman’s headcount in Hungary to over 2,000.
