By Andrew Davison: When it comes to museums, Budapest has all the usual candidates, including, art, national, natural history and ethnographic. These are all fine choices for a visit, but you may be the type of person – like us – that prefers to learn about the weird and wonderful in a new city. Ignite Budapest @ Brody Studios, 17 May

If you had just five minutes on stage, what would you say? What if you only had 20 slides that rotated automatically every 15 seconds? That's the essence of Ignite, an event where 12 pre-selected speakers will take on this challenge live. Ignite began in Seattle, USA, in 2006, and since 2009 Ignite Budapest has been a favourite event in the expat community.

The National Assembly of Hungary has adopted legislation to effectively rid the country of Central European University, despite a growing domestic and international bloc of opposition to the measures. The bill, proposed last Tuesday and made more stringent with a modification on Monday, would impose unfulfillable requirements on CEU, which could strip it of its Hungarian accreditation.
