Spending on travel with recreation vouchers would fall by more than half if the vouchers are replaced with cash, a survey by room booking service Szallas.hu shows. Just 17% of respondents said they would spend the full equivalent in cash of the recreation vouchers they get at present.

Shortly after taxi drivers began a demonstration against ride-sharing services in the capital today, Uber, the biggest ride-sharing service in Budapest, sent a mass email to their users offering a half-price discount on rides. The email suggests that using Uber would help people get around the traffic jams caused by the protest.
