In recent years a special cake to celebrate the country's foundation is always prepared in Hungary. The National Guild of Hungarian Confectioners selects the best recipe submitted by confectioners from all over the country. This year the jury voted the Hazelnut Cake with Pannonhalmi Apricot Distillate (pálinka) by Kézműves Cukrászda, Salgótarján to be Hungary’s Birthday cake of 2015.

The European final of Bocuse d’Or staged in Budapest next year will put Hungarian gastronomy in the spotlight, the event’s organisers said. The world’s most prestigious gastronomy competition will be held in Budapest on May 10-11, when 20 national winners will compete to represent Europe in the world event in 2017, the director of gastronomy events of GL Events Exhibitions told a press conference.
Italy Guest Of Honour At Budapest Wine Festival

Italy will be the guest of honour at the 23rd Budapest Wine Festival to be held between Sept. 10 and 14 in the Buda Castle, with a spotlight on barolo, brunello, chianti, prosecco and more. Visitors can taste the wines of Italy’s main wine regions ranging from Piedmont to Sicily at the fiveday festival featuring more than two hundred of Hungary’s vineyards and wines as well.
