Hungary has received the Chinese party’s financing offer relating to the Belgrade-Budapest railway line project, and negotiations on an inter-state agreement have also begun, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told the correspondent of the Hungarian News Agency MTI in Beijing, after his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Vang Yi late Wednesday evening, local time.

The Government decided on the construction of two types of border fence at its Tuesday meeting; the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defence will build an almost four-metre-tall fence on the sections of the border which can be easily penetrated, the Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office informed the press at a press conference held during the break of the cabinet meeting.

Greek woes may mean some temporary weakness for the Hungarian currency but it is set to firm in the medium term, analysts say after a brief wobble. The forint showed resilience on Monday, trading at 316.06 to the euro late in the day, down from 314.68 on Friday but up from 316.44 late Sunday. It hit an intraday low of 317.12 on Monday.
