Kerekes Band, A38 Ship Budapest, 23 November
The journey of the two-time Phonogram award-winning Kerekes Band spans more than 27 years, from the sultry dance halls of Gyimes in Moldavia to the big stages of world music.

During these nearly three decades, they created the sound that is unmistakable on the domestic and international world music scene. The tempo evoking the pulsation of Moldavian music, complemented by the riff-oriented flute and koboz themes, also known as Ethno Funk.

However, the sound of the quintet, which was experimental from the beginning, originates at least as much from rock music as from traditional pastoral music.

Expanding the spectrum of flute sound, Zsombor Fehér studied not only Gyimesi folk music, but also Jimi Hendrix's guitar sound for a long time in order to develop a specific psychedelic riff playing that gives the band's unique sound.

In the hands of Csaba Námor and Ákos Csarnó, the throbbing of the koboz and viola, trained in dance halls, but nourished by the energy of rock music, further strengthens the ethno funk freed from the shackles of traditional music, which is finally in the hands of the Hungarian stoner big gun, Péter Sohajda, and the two-four specialist, Viktor Fehér is formed into a whole.
