It's been two years since the Chicago punk-rock band last visited Budapest, and now it's time for them to return to Budapest Park on 13rd August with a banging concert and the songs from their latest single, the follow-up to their latest album Nowhere Generation, as well as their biggest hits.
Rise Against was formed in Chicago in 1999, and current members are Tim McIlrath (vocals, rhythm guitar), Joe Principe (bass, backing vocals), Zach Blair (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Brandon Barnes (drums, percussion).
The quartet's first two albums were released on a small independent label, bringing them their first success in underground circles, before their big break came with Siren Song of the Counter Culture on a major label. Their next album, The Sufferer & The Witness, opened at number 10 on the Billboard 200, opening the door to success for subsequent albums.
Rise Against often speak out about injustice in the world and are also keen to support good causes and organisations such as Amnesty International and PETA.
As they do on their chart-topping and critically acclaimed ninth album, Nowhere Generation. And as a follow-up to Nowhere Generation, the band released Nowhere Generation II in 2022: a peppy five-song single that continues the critical dialogue between themselves, their fans and the world that the album started.
The five-song collection - written and recorded alongside Nowhere Generation, and co-produced by Bill Stevenson (The Descendents, Black Flag) - goes beyond its full-length predecessor: the chronic social, economic and political instability and inequality that pervades the world. Nowhere Generation II is as biting as it is hopeful, and further proof that the band remains a defining element of modern rock.
