Three young and charming Georgian women from a remote little village in the Caucasus are returning to Kobuci. The trio shot to incredible fame through the internet, gaining worldwide recognition in just a few weeks thanks to YouTube and Facebook.
The story began on an ordinary day, when the three friends were walking along a country road in their village, enjoying the sunshine, and spontaneously started singing.
Tatuli recorded one of their favourite songs, Apareka — which they often sang—on her phone. She uploaded the video online, and that simple recording turned their lives upside down. Within two weeks, the song had racked up millions of views and become a global hit.
Trio Mandili’s fame quickly spread across the globe, and the group gained a massive international fanbase, which continues to grow day by day. The name Mandili refers to a traditional Georgian headscarf commonly worn by women. According to custom, this scarf is thrown on the ground to bring peace between two men in conflict.
The unexpected success naturally brought the girls great joy, yet Tatuli Mgeladze, Tamara Tsiklauri, and Mariam Kurasbediani have remained humble and devoted to singing and their music.
Trio Mandili now tours the world, performing regularly at folk festivals and headlining their own hugely successful concerts. Their heartfelt performances have touched audiences not only in Georgia but across Europe, Kazakhstan, and Israel as well.
