Invitation from the organisers: "On March 4, the authorities shut down the Turbina Cultural Center for a month based on a simple claim: someone somewhere alleged that they had purchased an illegal substance here - even though the police have never identified any unlawful activity on their premises, and they have always organized culture for a wide audience in full compliance with the rules.
Not only did they pull the ground out from under more than a hundred of Turbina employees and helpers overnight, but they also deprived thousands of people of the chance to dance, attend concerts, play board games, workshops, roundtable discussions, film screenings, self-development and creative programs, and song writing sessions at their venue.
Closing community spaces does not solve real problems - but it can very quickly destroy the cultural fabric of a city. That is why Turbina Team and supporters are standing up together now, to make sure this does not happen."
