U.S.Deputy Chief of Mission Levine Visits Kisvárda
"On March 30, 2010, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Jeffrey D. Levine visited Kisvárda, his mother’s hometown, to participate in the "America Day" event hosted by Bessenyei High School. The U.S. Embassy and the Ministry of Education (MINED) are sponsoring "America Day" events, which are organized by high schools around Hungary, so that students can get a realistic picture about America, its culture and civilization.

Mr. Levine said it is a good way to change the distorted image of the U.S. brought to people by movies, TV series and the media.

He emphasized how diversity in U.S. society helps enrich its culture and talked about the difference in work ethics in America vis-à-vis Europe.

He said the "millennium generation" can make good use of social networking sites, which help connect people all over the world.

He also answered questions from the students after his remarks and handed out a Certificate of Excellence, together with MINED representatives, to the head of the school’s student self government.

While in Kisvárda, DCM Levine met with Mayor Albert Oláh who briefed him on major developments in the town."
