Hungarian Banks Turn To The IMF For Help

"Six foreign banks with operations in Hungary, asked for the help of the IMF, to convince the Hungarian government not to introduce the special tax to be levied on banks.
KBC, Intesa Sanpaolo, Bayern LB, UniCredit, Raiffeisen International and Erste Bank, sent a letter to the Hungarian government and the IMF complaining about the bank tax, Der Standard wrote.
They grabbed the opportunity of the Budapest visit of the IMF starting today, to publish their complaints. According to the Austrian paper, IMF will examine whether the tax includes elements which are favourable to domestically owned bank, OTP."
