Updated: Unemployment Rate Reaches 4.4% in Hungary

In absolute terms, there were 214,000 unemployed.
The number of employed reached 4,684,000 in January, up 32,000 from twelve months earlier.
For the period November-January, the average number of employed reached 4,697,000. The number of people employed on the primary market was level at 4,525,000.
The number of Hungarians working abroad was little changed at 106,000 and the number of people in fostered work programmes was flat at 66,000.
The employment rate for the 15-64 age group stood at 75.1pc.
Data from the National Employment Service (NFSZ) show there were 230,000 registered jobseekers at the end of November, down 1.2pc from twelve months earlier.
Jobseekers spent 12.1 months, on average, looking for work, but 44pc of the jobless found new positions in under three months. The percentage of jobless who had been looking for work for at least one year reached 36pc.
Number of jobseekers falls by 3,000 in February
The number of jobseekers in Hungary stood at 232,348 in February, down by more than 3,000 from the same month a year earlier, the state secretary for employment policy said on Wednesday, citing data from the National Employment Service (NFSZ).
The February figure was the lowest for the month in more than three decades, Sandor Czomba said.
Around 30,000 jobseekers have found work as the result of recently launched European Union-funded government placement programmes, Czomba said.
