Budapest Airport: Clean Again
"Budapest Airport has been declared again „clean European airport” following a thorough follow-up security audit conducted by the airport security experts of the European Union and Hungary. Budapest Airport – together with the relevant Hungarian authorities – has returned to the clean status in the shortest possible time.

Budapest Airport is pleased to report that the corrective action plan devised by the airport in conjunction with the relevant Hungarian authorities to return Budapest Airport to clean status has achieved its goal. Budapest Airport will continue to maintain the high standards of security achieved as a result of the plan and will now focus further improving staff and customer experience when passing through the security checkpoints.

Some immediate benefits for passengers and airlines resulting from returning to clean status include not having to be re-screened again at other European airports and not being treated like a non-EU arriving passenger. This will improve turnaround times for airlines and also provide more convenience for passengers as they will not have to risk confiscation or re-screening of duty free products purchased at Budapest Airport. (There were only a few cases like this at all.)

The high standard security procedures introduced by the European Union on 29th April 2010 remain in force and will be enforced by the Hungarian authorities in the future. Budapest Airport will do everything in its power to provide safe and comfortable passage through security lanes of all passengers and airport staff.

Budapest Airport will soon open the SkyCourt facility which will offer increased security screening lane capacity and provide a better experience for customers. In addition, a number of structural, technological and other measures have been introduced to guarantee high levels of service to all passengers travelling through Budapest Airport.

Budapest Airport would like to express its gratitude to the vast majority of its 700 security employees who have worked extremely hard during the past months to return the airport to “clean” status again. Also Budapest Airport wants to thank all passengers who understand our efforts to increase the safety and security of travelers through our airport."
