Retails Sales Down 3% In Hungary So Far This Year

This week the Hungarian Central Statistics Office (KSH) announced that local retail sales fell 2.7% - year-on-year - in March 2012. Also adjusted for seaonal effects, retail sales were down in April by 1.0% compared to the same month in 2011. Overall 2011 retail sales were slightly up on 2010 by 0.2% , rising that year for the first time since 2006.
KSH also reported that car and car part sales, which according to EU methodology are not included in retail sales statistics, fell 3.2% year-on-year in April 2012, and were down 3.0% year-on-year in the first four months.
