'We Care' Program At Hilton Budapest Hotel

"We care!" is not a chore, but an ever-expanding program, which from its very first steps makes the Hilton hotels “greener”. What aims have we set for 2009? To reduce energy consumption by 15%, water consumption by 10%, and to rationalize the use of detergents and cleaning products as much as possible. Naturally, alongside all this the staff at Hilton hotels are taking many simple steps to protect the environment. A "We Care!" logo in the rest room reminds them to press the “small button”; they use the office stairs instead of the lift; they carefully turn off unnecessary lighting; they collect waste selectively; they reuse paper and several times a year take part in city clean-up programs.
On 22 April 2009, Earth Day, Hilton Budapest took part in the spring cleaning of the Buda Castle District for the second time. One week later, joining forces with Budapest City Gardening, and with the staff of other hotels, we cleaned up the green parks of Gellért Hill, and removed the graffiti, which so degrade the hill and the environment.
As well as environmental protection, the "we care!" program of the Hilton hotels has a social aim. In line with this the Hilton Budapest made a donation to the Budapest Zoo Foundation, in exchange for which it adopted Cloé, one of the charming sea lions of the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Gardens. This choice was no accident. Seals are endangered by multiple factors as a result of the actions of mankind harmful to the environment. Cloé has now become a real member of the Hilton team, and looks forward to seeing you in the Zoo, by the Great Rock!
It is our hope that with more similar moves the green hotels will highlight the importance of protecting our planet, so that in 100 years our descendants will not, in the grip of hunger and thirst, look back on the mere memory of a living Earth. Let’s show the world that "We care!” too!
