Hungarian Kayak-Canoe Federation Wants €150,000 From Janics
Kayaker Natasa Douchev-Janics can compete for Serbia only if she pays €150,000 by October 31, the Hungarian Kayak-Canoe Federation confirmed yesterday. The federation calls the sum “preparation contribution” and said anybody can pay it on Janics’ behalf.

The three-time Olympic champion announced on September 27 that she wants to continue her career in her native Serbia because her husband has been hired by the Serbian Olympic Committee.

If the federation does not give its assent, then Douchev-Janics may not compete in official competition for two years.

Kayaker Tamara Csipes, world champion in 2010 and 2011, also wants to leave Hungary, to move to Australia with her husband, Magyar Hírlap reports.

The kayak-canoe federation confirmed its policy of not allowing world or European champions older than 17 to compete for other countries.
