Over Four Million Employed And Four Hundred Thousand Unemployed People In Hungary
In the 4th quarter of last year the number of unemployed people was 403 000, 65 000 fewer than in the same period of 2012. Over the same, the number of employed people was 4.015 million, which is a 107 000 more than a year ago. The growth partly resulted from the increased number (70 000) of public workers.

According to Hungarian Central Statistical (KSH) data, the unemployment rate during the 4th quarter of 2013 decreased by 1.6 percentage points down to 9.1%.

On the annual average in 2013, the number of unemployed people was 449 000, 27 000 fewer compared to the 2012 results, which helped the unemployment rate to go down to 10.2%.

Last year, 54.9% of unemployed people had been searching for a job for over a year. The average duration of unemployment was 19.7 months.

Out of the seven statistical regions, three (Central Transdanubia, Western Transdanubia and Southern Transdanubia) had an unemployment rate below 8%. Besides the Southern Great Plain, all regions were characterized by decreasing unemployment compared to the 4th quarter of 2012.
