Rabbinical Centre Praises Strong Jewish Community In Hungary

The RCE Rabbinical Centre of Europe will hold its biannual conference in Budapest on March 24-25, and the location has been picked to highlight the importance of a strong and growing Jewish community despite the Holocaust, RCE’s chief secretary said on Thursday.
RCE secretary Menachem Margolin said Jewish communities ceased to exist in several countries after the Holocaust but fortunately the Hungarian community was growing.
Baruch Oberlander, chief Rabbi of the Chabad-Lubavitch congregation, said it was important to hold the event in Budapest because this year marks the 70th anniversary of the Holocaust, sending out the message that Jewish religious life is still present in Hungary.
It did not stop after the Holocaust but continued and has even gone through a renaissance in recent years.
