The sonnets were first published in 1609 and Shakespeare dedicated them to Mr W.H., whose identity has remained the subject of intense debate ever since.

The sonnets are performed by W.H. with acoustic and electronic instrumental accompaniment, featuring cello, bass, drums and vocals in a mixed style of jazz, contemporary music and hip-hop. Guests at Friday’s concert will also include a violinist, a keyboardist, and a guitarist, and the performance will feature projected visual effects.
