Hungary’s Competition Office Fines Magyar Telekom For Misleading Advertising
- 30 Oct 2014 8:00 AM
Hungary’s Competition Office (GVH) on Wednesday said it fined Magyar Telekom 90 million forints for misleading advertising. In television advertisements of its Next Business XL and M packages run over six weeks in autumn 2013, the company failed to inform the targeted SMEs that the monthly fees apply only for four or more subscriptions and if other conditions were met.
The GVH said it counted as aggravating factors in its assessment of the matter the broad scale of consumers affected as well as the fact that Magyar Telekom had been found to have breached the law on advertisement already once in the past five years.
It considered also, however, that costumers could have acquired correct information from other sources.
