Share Your Ideas About Hungary With U.S. Ambassador Colleen Bell
- 20 Apr 2015 9:04 AM
As Ambassador Bell said in her video message: “… When I met with President Barack Obama before coming out to begin my service as Ambassador, I told the President that I would be the U.S. Ambassador to Hungary who got out to places in Hungary that no U.S. Ambassador had ever had the opportunity to see.”
Ambassador Bell wants your help: what do you think she should see, to help her better understand the richness and diversity of your country, to understand your history and your present challenges, your hopes, and your aspirations? Your suggestions can be funny, or serious, or intriguing, or inspiring- or all of the above- but we want to hear from you. Ambassador Bell won't be able to take everyone up on their suggestions, but we would love to hear your ideas.
Some ideas:
Places (cities, towns, historic buildings, institutions, natural parks, etc.) Ambassador Bell should visit;
Events (concerts, festivals, fairs, etc.) Ambassador Bell should attend;
Culinary specialties Ambassador Bell should try; or
Any other “Hungaricums” Ambassador Bell should learn about.
Photos are also welcome, but we ask that those submitting obtain permission for publication from any other people in the photo.
How you can send us your ideas:
You can submit your suggestions in a Facebook message (Please do NOT write your ideas in a comment under our Facebook posts, use the Message function instead!);
Or, by sending an email message to the Public Affairs Section of the Embassy by clicking here
What to include in your submission:
What are you proposing that the Ambassador see or do?
Why do you feel this experience would help Ambassador Bell better understand Hungary?
Would you be able to join Ambassador Bell if she is able to accept your suggestion?
Is there a specific time or date that the Ambassador would need to visit a place or an event?
What else would be helpful for us to know?
Deadline for submitting your suggestions:
We will accept submissions until we reach 40,000 likes on Facebook.
How we will select the winners:
We are looking for suggestions that truly celebrate experiences that show the uniqueness of and the diversity within Hungarian culture.
We will have no set number of “winners”- we will try to honor as many suggestions as possible.
If more than one person submits the same or a very similar idea, we will select the submitter who best explains WHY a particular idea is important.
For some opportunities, if the Ambassador is not able to visit herself, we would like to send a colleague from the Embassy in her place.
Ambassador Bell and the Embassy Facebook Team are very much looking forward to your ideas!"
