Some people say that technology in itself will only move mankind backwards, causing myriad problems and tensions. Others say that it will make us move in a better direction, bringing people, cities, countries, and continents substantially closer to each other.
Ken Goldberg, award-winning artist and professor at UC Berkeley, who has published over 200 peer-reviewed technical papers on algorithms for robotics, automation, and social information filtering, will debate the role of cloud computing in robots and what it really means for mankind in the years to come. How will technology impact companies and the value of work in societies? Will robotics take over the job market in the foreseeable future? Will the loss of our jobs be the price we pay for playing God?
Technology has had an enormous impact on medical breakthroughs as well. For example, as a result of ground-breaking advancements in 3D printing devices, surgeons recently performed the world's first ever skull transplant. Clearly, this level of intervention into natural processes is bound to spark controversy. Numerous other discoveries are being made in the field every day: through notable invited guest speakers Dr. Victoria Sweet and Dr. Bertalan Meskó, the festival will explore the possible directions the relationship between technology and medicine could take in the future.
So are we creators - or does technology create us? BBB may have the answer. June 4-6, Budapest: don't miss out.
