Visegrad Design Fair @ WAMP - Budapest Design Week 2016, 2 October
For 10 years now WAMP represents and ensures high quality design. The former art market today is a well-known internationally acclaimed design fair which represents more than thousand designers from Hungary and abroad.

At Hungary’s most popular design fair it is the high quality selection of exhibitors that ensures that design-lovers will only find the best works of designers whether these are the unique garments or accessories of well-known and new fashion labels or the exclusive handmade interior design artifacts, the elaborated precious metal jewellery or the gastro products that not only enhance good quality and originality but also emphasize the design and innovative character of the products.

For Design Week Budapest WAMP organizes this time a special program that hosts Slovakian, Czech and Polish designers beyond more than hundred selected Hungarian exhibitors.

From Poland WAMP will present the designer duo of a co mi tam that creates unique garment and accessories and Sowik Matyga the joint brand of Martyna Sowik and Mile Matyga using peculiar forms and design. Katarzyna Palcik will also show unique pieces of her own brand Re-less by Katarzyna Palcik to the Hungarian audience. For those who prefer bolder solutions we recommend the surreal home objects and accessories of Ania Kanicka.

Among others LiliEn who graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava will introduce her brand with unique paintings and design objects, Na beton will showcase unusual concrete jewellery, and the young brand Jamaka will bring stylish handmade real leather accessories from Slovakia.

The brand popular which was founded by the graphic designer and DJ Michal Rafaj emphasizes functionality and practicality with its T-shirts, bags and other accessories which he will also present at WAMP. Designing casual comfortable pieces was also the aim of the brand Lull Loungewear s.r.o. whose 2016 summer collection were shot in Budapest.

Lovemusic s r.o.which was founded by two friends Zbynek Hanko and Kate Pletichová and since then have involved the work of other designers too will also represent different Slovakian creators at this special fair.

From the Czech Republic arrives Magdy Vachunová the designer of MAYDA who is well-known for her peculiar patterns, Oneday that creates small scale female apparel and accessories, as well as the brand CITY FOLKLORE that gathers its inspiration from urban lifestyle.

The soft garments of Chriss Pola that are made of the combination of eco-cotton and wool are indeed a great choice for the chillier autumn days.

The peculiar men’s shirts of Kristýna K. provide a fresh new look for the Hungarian audience, just as the minimalist pieces of Soolista that rethinks men’s shirts specifically for women. Among the work of the exhibitors of the Visegrad countries visitors can also choose from the beautiful jewellery of Eliška Lhotská and from the unique porcelain objects of TYFORMY the joint brand of Šišková Julie and Paul Vachunová.

The Designer of the Month in October is ARTISTA

Studio Artista was founded in 1993 by 6 designers Katalin Imre, Júlia Iván, Ábel Köves, Nóra Rácz, Edina Schön and Katalin Stampf. The designers graduated at the Hungarian Design College (the predecessor of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design) and also studied fashion at prestigious universities in Milan or Brighton.

After a while they extended the clothes line with peculiar textile and leather Artista bags and accessories, which are decorated with special prints and the illustrations of contemporary local and international artists (Austrian, Georgian and Ukrainian). Beyond providing special event clothes and wedding dresses they also take individual orders at their Budapest showroom.

Environmental consciousness is a priority for the brand therefore they only create small scale collections. The philosophy of Artista enhances classic, traditional cuts and their use in the contemporary urban style. Layering, the combination of different textures and materials, oriental- as well as casual cuts is characteristic for their new autumn-winter collections which debuts at the October WAMP.

For this special occasion WAMP will host the students of Moholy – Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest (MOME) whose work will debut at WAMP and visitors can also buy their unique small scale products.
