Budapest Will Regain City Park When Financially Solvent, Vows Karácsony
- 19 Jun 2026 8:44 AM
Karacsony welcomed the government's announcement on Thursday not to allow new buildings to be built in park.
"We also fully agree that the sites of the demolished buildings should be turned into parkland, and the Karoly Kos Promenade should be made car-free," he added.
He said the state should handle these plans, given the city's poor financial situation. But in the long term and budget-permitting, the city "must regain the park", the mayor added.
