Trio Assaulted For Pro-CEU Views
Three men were attacked at a club in Budapest’s Seventh District on Saturday evening, apparently because one of them wore a badge expressing support for the CEU.

“We were just about to leave when two large guys attacked us because of my CEU badge,” one of them wrote on Facebook.

“The badge, coat, bag, pullover were torn off me. Meanwhile they screamed that they would not tolerate their enemies, agents provocateurs and liberals”.

The incident occurred one week after Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in an interview that the palms of “otherwise peaceful and upright Christians were itching” to slap anti-government protesters.

The incident occurred at the Rácskert bar.

Manager Csilla Szõke said there was a folk music event where many people behaved peacefully and only two people did not.

The Rácskert apologised for the incident on its Facebook page and said the security guard who had failed to intervene had been sacked.
