The slimmer form factor and increased display size do wonders for the Surface Pro 4.

Microsoft has really hammered the whole "Surface tablets can replace your laptop" thing for a long time now, so much so that it's sort of lost most of its meaning. The statement is largely correct, Surface Pro's are wonderful machines, if rather pricey, but Microsoft needs to get the hint that we know this already.

The thing is, the latest Surface Pro 4 not only replaces your laptop, but your desktop and notepad too, it's one hell of a device.

The revamped Type Cover finally delivers a slod typing experience and the new Surface Pen is also massive improvements.

The Surface Pro 4 is the ideal hybrid tablet practically in every way: light as a tablet and productive as any laptop. Future models might eventually fix the battery life issue and add faster hardware, but we'll likely remember the Surface Pro 4 as the turning point for Microsoft.

Everything Microsoft promised at that surprise Surface unveiling in 2012 is here today with the Pro 4.

It took several Surface models to get here, and the company might have a hard time convincing consumers that it's finally cracked the code. But who knows, maybe a free Type Cover would help.
