Hungary’s Largest Statue In The Works
The biggest statue in Hungary, Miskahuszár (“Miska the Hussar”) is under construction on the so-called Bogár halom at Pákozd, where legend has it that Habsburg general Josip Jelacic stood in September, 1848, before his defeat in battle at the hands of Hungarian soldiers.

The statue, 12.5 metres high and weighing 70 tons, is the work of sculptor István Rohonczi. It will be lit up at night and cars will be able to see it from the nearby M7 motorway.

The project is supported by a foundation to immortalise the heroism and courage of the Hungarian soldier and as a memento of the Hungarian victory in the Battle of Pákozd.
