World Judo Contest Starts Today

A total of 796 athletes from 136 countries will compete for world titles at the Papp László Budapest Sport arena from today, when the World Judo Championships begin.
Hungary’s sports leadership expects the 19 Hungarian athletes taking part to win one medal. Hungarian judoists have to date won only two gold medals, earned by Antal Kovács in 1993 and Ákos Braun in 2005.
