Regulations need to be prepared to ensure the security of state institutions, local councils and service providers that handle personal data, Tamás Deutsch, who is also a Member of the European Parliament, told the conference organised by Századvég Economic Research Company. He also called for further training to improve IT security and support for investment projects and said teachers will get trained on internet security.

Századvég managing director Péter Márton told the conference that demand for security is increasing as threats are growing. It is difficult to assess the long-term consequences of cyber crime but revenues from it already exceed drug trafficking revenues and an annual 300 million users’ data become subject to abuse. The regulation of cyber space is a global problem and the work of ethical hackers could be necessary to resolve it, he added.
