Government Promotes Hiking
The government will provide information to hikers on developments related to hiking routes and shelters, Zsolt Nyitrai commissioner of the prime minister said at a press conference at the Hármashatárhegy shelter in Budapest on Tuesday where he presented the leaflet “At home in nature”.

The leaflet will be available in tourist shelters and at events related to hiking.

Along with hikers, he underlined, the information will be shared with farmers and pensioners.

By December 2,500km of the National Blue Circle hiking path has been developed, 37 observation towers were erected and 31 were renovated, cycling and recreation commissioner Mariusz Révész said.

The number of shelters have increased to 184; 27 new ones were opened and 79 were renovated. Most of the constructions and renovations were carried out by state forest companies with the help of EU funds.
