Hungarian Football Captain Gera Retires
Zoltán Gera, long-time captain of the national football team, announced on Friday that he is retiring from the sport for health reasons.

In an interview with Magyar Hírlap, the 39-year-old, who has represented Hungary in 97 international matches, said he wanted to play until the age of 40 and reach 100 appearances for Hungary but he could no longer have given his best, due to injuries.

Gera spent several seasons in England’s Premier League as a midfielder with Fulham and later West Brom.
