Opposition: Gov't Proposals Will Further Restrict Free Speech
Planned changes to the criminal code aim to further restrict the freedom of opinion and expression while narrowing scope for political debate, the spokesman of green opposition LMP said.

Referring to proposed legislation on reinforcing privacy rights, Máté Kanász-Nagy (pictured on top) said that the law was written in a way that served the interests of politicians.

The planned criminal code amendment states that harassment of an official person at a place or time which is not compatible with their job would qualify as an aggravated violation punishable by two to three years in prison.

Kanász-Nagy said politicians should be prepared to handle more intense criticism than private individuals.
