'Budafok Champagne & Wine Festival', 1 – 2 September
The XXII. district of Budapest, Budafok-Tétény, says goodbye to the summer with champagne and wine between 1 – 2 September, for the 29th time.

Winery stands, a tasteful variety of hungarian streetfood, local artisan craft shops, 4 concert stages with pop, rock, jazz and world music, live art performances, open-air exhibitions and various programs for children are awaiting the visitors on the busy streets and squares of Budafok.

The festival has it’s roots in tercentenary traditions. Many-many years ago, when stone mines were started in the area, it became quickly obvious that the remaining cellars would be perfect to store wine in cellars.

Thanks to the practised vintners on Jenő Savoyai’s property, the culture of grapes and wine production started to flourish in the XVIII. century. Budafok became the centre of Hungary’s wine trade in the XIX. century.

The legendary figure of champagne production, József Törley, also started his factory there.

This history set the grounds for our fantastic wine and champagne festival tradition, and it has been 29 years now that wine and champagne lovers, music enthusiasts, performers and those who are looking for family programs can meet here in Budafok-Tétény during the first weekend of September.

Although everyone is looking for their personal favourites, they can be sure of one thing: everyone can will feel at home in the friendly wine district of Budapest.
