The Government Office in Budapest has unexpectedly withdrawn the construction permit for a new six-storey parking garage at Liszt Ferenc International Airport, Index has learned.
The permit was issued on December 4 and withdrawn on Monday. The authority did not give any reason why the permit was withdrawn.
The airport operator has already started the demolition of the existing parking lot.
The planned €40 million facility would have 2,500 parking spaces and would open in the second quarter of 2020.
It is possible that the large concrete building would block the construction of the planned railway connection to the airport, Index speculates.
