US Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife are scheduled to arrive in Budapest for a high-profile official visit on April 7–8, 2026. The visit includes bilateral talks with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, a joint press conference, and a public rally.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has had talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone, the PM’s communications department told MTI on Tuesday. Orbán and Putin discussed the situations in the Middle East and in Ukraine, as well as the availability of oil and gas supplies crucial for Hungary’s energy security, the statement said.
Ukrainians "participating in forced conscriptions" will be expelled from Hungary immediately, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Facebook.
