Coronavirus: Opposition District Councilor Dies Aged 28
Lajos Balogh, a councillor of Budapest’s 8th district, has died at the age of 28 of the coronavirus, Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony said on Facebook on Monday.

Karácsony said that Balogh left an “enormous and weighty legacy … it is our responsibility to pass it on.”

He was “an activist, a musician, an educated man” who “fought with all his strength … against all forms of discrimination, exclusion and hate-mongering, and for the coexistence of Gypsy and non-Gypsy Hungarians.”

Balogh was a representative of the Momentum-Democratic Coalition-Socialist-Párbeszéd-LMP-Szolidaritás coalition in the district.
