No one in Hungary is carrying coronavirus, but the seven people quarantined will undergo several tests, Cecília Müller told public news channel M1.
An “operative board” has been set up to coordinate the actions of state authorities that would be involved in preventing the spread of the virus and an epidemic that could follow, she noted.
Exchanges of information between these authorities are ongoing and regular meetings have been held to discuss completed and future tasks, Müller added. There is currently a flu epidemic in Hungary, with 15,000 new cases reported weekly, the chief medical officer said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has sent a letter to French President Emmanuel Macron thanking him for France’s help with the return of a group of Hungarians from Wuhan, Orbán’s press chief said.
“Let me thank you for the excellent cooperation which was indispensable for the completion of the complex operation under extraordinary circumstances,” Bertalan Havasi cited Orbán as saying.
Seven Hungarians evacuated from Wuhan were among passengers taken by a French aircraft to an airbase in southern France over the weekend. They returned to Hungary on Sunday evening.
