The authentic food here is prepared by expat Italians living in the Hungarian capital, who opened this cosy place on Akácfa Street in February 2019.

"Hailing from different cities around Southern and Northern Italy, the owners bring with them a deep understanding of how to create authentic, honest food that transports you to the shores from where these delicious dishes originate." 

The award-winning pizza they prepare is made in the Neapolitan style.  The pizza flour is mixed with a healthy wholegrain variety, which is apparent in the colour and comes through in the taste.

After slow and natural leavening, the dough is baked in an authentic pizza oven from Naples, with the final result having raised crispy edges and a lovely thin middle.

Two main types of pizza are available here: classic and gourmet - standard varieties like Margherita, Quattro Formaggi and Capricciosa cost around HUF 2,000 - 3,500 - full menu here.

The fab food is complimented by great service and a good selection of wines, which all explains why, in such a short time, this expat establishment has won the hearts of the Italians who live in the city, expats in general and many Hungarians who have become regular customers too.

After their culinary trip here, customers can take home mementos in the form of postcards and coupons with the same designs as the posters in the place, as well as colourful badges featuring the cool logo of restaurant.

"The name Belli di Mamma directly translates to 'Mommy’s Tummy', an Italian expression that means even bad guys love their Mamma’s food."

This delicious pizzeria in Budapest deserves much credit for coming 44th in the international competition showcasing Europe’s 50 best pizza makers (click here for full list), and is considered by those who have tried it as quite rightly the best pizza place in Hungary.
