Entire Intensive Ward Staff Resigns From Budapest Szent Imre Hospital
All 17 professional nurses and three doctors at the intensive care unit of Budapest’s Szent Imre Hospital resigned on Monday.

All state healthcare workers were to sign a contract on a new legal relationship with the state by midnight Monday.

The deadline, announced in December, came at the worst possible time, website 444 writes, as hospitals are once again under enormous strain because of the coronavirus.

The dilemmas surrounding the signing of the contract also brought up previous problems, which were compounded by earlier concerns about the new contract.

Meanwhile, the Szent Imre Hospital’s Covid ward is full of patients in a severe state of health. Nurses from other wards have been assigned to them from Monday.

Asked what the biggest problems are, one of the departing nurses said “Everything. There is not enough equipment, people, money.”

They had to beg for basic equipment, such as rubber gloves, face masks and protective overalls, staff said, while the management said everything was in order.
