Demand for telegrams has fallen sharply and it is no longer available in several countries.
The first telegram in Hungary was sent from Pozsony (now Bratislava) to Vienna in 1847.
An annual eight million telegrams were sent about 30 years ago but their number dropped to about 23,000 in 2020. The service was available at 2,600 post offices.
