World Blood Donor Day, Budapest, 14 June
HotelHero launches blood donation campaign with Hungarian Hotel & Restaurant Association on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day.

At the initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Committee of the Red Cross, World Blood Donor Day has been held on 14 June since 2004.

On this occasion, a three-week national blood donation campaign will be launched by HotelHero and HHRA hotels with the help of the Hungarian Red Cross. Between 10 and 30 June, 2021, 14 hotels nationwide will open their doors to the voluntary donors and will operate as a special blood donation site.

The list of hotels can be found here.

The charity initiative of Hungarian hotels, HotelHero, was launched a year ago and those who joined it undertook to help good affairs with their free time, organizational skills and work.

Hotel staff members are now, literally, also donating their blood for the community, as we know that in order to have the right amount of safe blood products in hospitals, at least 1,600 to 1,800 people need to donate a day.

With the end of the third wave of the epidemic, when previously postponed surgeries and interventions can finally take place, this action is of paramount importance.

HotelHero, HHRA and the Hungarian Red Cross ask all healthy colleagues working in tourism to go and donate blood at the listed blood donation sites at the given times and tell their relatives, friends and acquaintances to do the same.

The organizers encourage hotels to even invite their business partners to the event, and hotels that provide a venue for blood donations may also notify residents in the area!

"Let's show the power of cooperation together again!"

In another win for the digitalization of Hungarian administration, the pink social security booklet is finally being abolished as of January 2026. The information it contains is now safely managed by various government agencies, so the booklet has been redundant for some time. Instead, a new online platform will be created where employers can still check data if that is relevant to them.
