Lecsó Named Hungary's Most 'Instagrammable' Dish
Lecsó is by far the most popular Hungarian dish on Instagram according to research by Thuisbezorgd.nl.

Thuisbezorgd.nl took a look at Instagram trends to discover which Hungarian dishes are the most popular on the social media platform by finding the total hashtag count for each dish.

In first place, lecsó (a typical Hungarian vegetable ragout with peppers, onions, tomatoes, and paprika) has received some 113,831 hashtags to date - about 24 times more than rakott krumpli (potato casserole made with eggs, sausages, and sour cream) which comes in 10th place.

Paprikás csirke (chicken paprikash) follows behind in second place with 11,732 hashtags. The third most popular Hungarian delicacy on the list is pogácsa (a kind of savory scone), with some 11,466 hashtags.

Other dishes in the top 10 include pörkölt (goulash, not to be confused with goulash soup), töltött káposzta (stuffed cabbage), halászlé (fisherman's soup), túrógombóc (sweet cottage cheese dumplings), húsleves (consommé), and guylásleves (goulash soup).

Pizza reigns supreme internationally

The study revealed that pizza is the most instagrammable food in the world with an impressive 86,380,378 hashtags to date.

Some 45,136,853 hashtags place sushi behind pizza in the world rankings and at the top of the list in Asia. Jumping across the Indian Ocean to Africa, the street food shawarma (1,158,451 hashtags) is the most popular dish in the region.

In North America, burgers are the most popular with 33,054,250 hashtags. In South America, asado is the most Instagrammable dish.

On the opposite side of the globe in Oceania, the Australian classic meat pie claims the top spot with 266,868 hashtags to date.
