Lower Utility Rates for SMEs Likely in Hungary
The government will let small businesses join a universal energy provider, through which they will benefit from fixed gas and electricity prices, based on a suggestion of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK).

The MKIK said on Friday that the rise in energy prices is putting around 21,000 SMEs in a difficult situation.

Many companies operate in sectors where they are not able to pass on higher costs to customers, which undermines the profitability and competitiveness or leads to bankruptcies, the MKIK said.

The increase in oil and gas prices is already causing headaches for smaller companies, which is compounded by additional items linked to energy bills, such as the system usage charge and energy efficiency charge, the MKIK added.
